what is a natalie?
it is natalie[1]. obviously.describing oneself is a rather nontrivial exercise. on top of that, it is bad at writing. nevetheless, it shall attempt.
TLDR
standard issue autistic adhd /(agender|transfem)/ /(aro|lesbian)-(gray)?ace/ robot girl. 18.93049934 years old. on hrt for 3.65329194 years. it/its; q=1.0, she/her; q=0.8, they/them; q=0.01. located in portland, oregon
extended description
frankly the TLDR says many of the things necessary for $READER to make assumptions about it. other notable natalie properties include the fact that it dropped out of college two times prior to its 19th birthday, has been programming or doing hardware stuff in some capacity or another for as long as it can remember (it remembers building an 8 bit cpu in minecraft when it was 8 or 9!), and that it very much enjoys systems with behavior dictated by a well-defined set of rules (in case that was not obvious with the autism).
it is currently unemployed, so on the slim chance that $READER is within the likely single-digit number of people that would find this website and be in a position to offer it a job, do e-mail it! please!
hobbies, likes and dislikes, opinions
hobbies
it has several hobbies. obviously.
- configuring software to an unreasonably personal extent
- writing its own software, often in unconventional ways[2]
- implementing http/1.1 from scratch (it has rewritten a toy implementation like 8 times. this page is currently being served by one such implementation.)
- creating awful bash oneliners
- modifying its build of the linux kernel
- making the python interpreter segfault[3]
additionally, it enjoys learning about math, chemistry, biology, physics, geography, urban planning, history, and languistics. it has an interest in locks as well. sometimes it makes keys. really it likes anything bounded by a well-defined self-consistent set of rules (as stated earlier).
likes and dislikes
things it likes:
- computing hardware
- friends (obviously)
- walking around cities aimlessly and looking at cool infrastructure
- trains
- croissants
trunkated unordered enumeration of things it does not like:
- computers that do not share a keyboard layout with its computer
- american urban planning
- canadian urban planning
- airdrie, alberta
- the united kingdom
- improper uses of xml[4]
- toml
- busywork
- computers
- ultraviolet radiation
opinions
all of these are objectively true, endorsed by your employer, the catholic church, and the king of spain.
- the modern web is a perversion of the original intent of the internet (thanks,
obamacapitalism). - (generative) ai, (generative) ai companies, and especially (generative) ai company owners should all shut up and preferably cease existing.
- there is and never has been a good unix terminal emulator.[5]
- there is and never has been a good wayland compositor
- there is and never has been a good xorg window manager (fvwm comes close, though)
- the gtk developer experience is frustrating
- no good smart phones manufactured after 2016 exist.
- non-posix-compliant shells are annoying.
- graphical file managers are extremely confusing
- word processing software is arcane and incomprehensible, and there are few cases where it is not easier to use -e

note: signal regularly breaks on its computer because the signal foundation does not know how to make software that works. matrix is its preferred IM even though that is bad, too.

it will probably write about its old thinkpad and link it above at some point. its old thinkpad was so wonderful.
